Harp & Bowl is organised by Mteule Arise, the ministry of Florence Mureithi. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you register or volunteer for Harp & Bowl 1.0 on florencemureithi.com, or visit its pages, and how we use it.
We handle personal data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
In short
- We collect only what we need to run the event.
- We use it only for this event, keep it private and never sell it.
- We keep it for up to 6 months after the event.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete it.
01Who we are
Mteule Arise organises Harp & Bowl 1.0 under Florence Mureithi and is responsible for your personal data (the “data controller”).
- Email: info@harpandbowl.ke
- Phone: +254 747 975 864
- Location: Nairobi, Kenya
02What we collect
When you register
- Your full name, email address and phone number
- Your country, and county if you live in Kenya
- How many people are coming, and the names (and optionally phone numbers) of the people you register with you
- How you heard about the event
If your phone offers “Choose from contacts”: your phone shows your own contacts list; only the one contact you pick (their name and number) is passed to the form. We never see your address book.
Registering other people: by adding someone, you confirm they have agreed to you sharing their details with us and that you will let them know about this policy. If anyone you register is under 18, you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or have their parent's or guardian's permission.
If you leave before finishing: your own browser keeps what you have typed on your device (it is not sent to us) for up to 30 days, so you can pick up where you left off. It is cleared as soon as you register or press “Start over”. We only count that the form was started, not what was typed.
When you volunteer
- Your full name, email address and phone number
- What you tell us about how you would like to serve
When you give
- The amount, and your M-Pesa number (M-Pesa) or email address (card), to process the gift
- Card details are entered on our payment provider’s secure page; we never see or keep them
Recorded automatically
- When you submitted the form and the consent choices you made
- Basic technical details (such as IP address and browser), used to keep the site secure
- Check-in times at the door
- How the website is used (pages visited, from which country), counted without storing your IP address, to improve the site
What you have to give us
To register we need your name, email, phone number and country (and county in Kenya), and a name for each person you register; without them we can't issue a ticket. Guests’ phone numbers and hearing about future gatherings are optional.
That is all we ask for. Entry is free, so no payment details are needed.
Harp & Bowl is a Christian worship gathering, so registering may say something about your faith, which the law treats as sensitive. We handle it with your consent, only to run this gathering, and never share it beyond what this policy describes.
03How we use it
- Registering you, sending your ticket and checking you (and anyone you register) in
- Your consent, and to provide what you asked for
- Sending event information such as reminders, changes and directions
- To provide what you asked for
- Spotting people registered twice (by comparing phone numbers and names) and combining their tickets into one, then emailing the ticket to use
- Our legitimate interest in a quick, accurate door
- Planning the evening (numbers, where people are coming from, how they heard)
- Your consent
- Keeping the website and the event safe, and stopping spam and misuse
- Our legitimate interest in running a safe event
- Telling you about future gatherings
- Your consent, only if you ticked the optional box
- Volunteers: reviewing your offer to serve, arranging roles and contacting you
- Your consent, and to arrange your volunteering
We use your data only for these purposes and keep it private to the event team.
We don't make decisions about you by automated means, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
04Photos and videos
Photos and videos will be taken at Harp & Bowl 1.0 and may be shared on our website and social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok). By attending, you understand that you may appear in them.
If you'd rather not be photographed, let our team know on the night. If you would like something we have posted reviewed, email info@harpandbowl.ke.
06How long we keep it
We keep registration and volunteer details for up to 6 months after the event, then delete or anonymise them. If you asked to hear about future gatherings, we keep your name and contact details until you ask us to stop.
Records that show your consent are kept for as long as we hold your details. Security records are kept for up to 6 months, and website usage figures for up to 13 months. Backups are kept for up to 30 days and then overwritten.
07Keeping it safe
We protect your data with encrypted connections, secure hosting and a private admin area that only authorised members of our team can open, with a password and a second sign-in step. Access is logged and the site is monitored around the clock.
If something ever put your data at risk, we would tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
08Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- delete your data
- stop using it, or object to how we use it, including for updates
- give you your data in a common format so you can take it elsewhere
You can also withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything already done). To make a request, email info@harpandbowl.ke. We will reply promptly, within the time the law allows, and may ask you to confirm who you are first.
09Questions
If you have any questions or concerns about your data, please contact us at info@harpandbowl.ke or +254 747 975 864.
